Today Sunny Studio Stamps is celebrating their One Year Anniversary! I love seeing new stamp companies become successful and this one has had a phenomenal first year! I'm so proud of Mendi and all of her success. I'm very honored that she asked me to be part of her well earned celebration! I'm working with my all time favorite Sunny Studio Stamps stamp set today. I've made three cards to share with you using this set. It is called City Streets and is filled with cute little images that can be put together to create city street scenes.
For this card, I stamped all of the images in the stamp set randomly over a piece of watercolor paper. I then painted the images roughly with watercolors - I purposely went outside the lines which wasn't easy for me!
Here are the steps I took to make this card:
- Stamp ALL of the images in the stamp set randomly over a piece of 4.5x6 watercolor paper. Paint each image by first applying water over it going outside the lines. Then add color over that image painting outside the lines. Yep, outside those lines! Once each image is dry, go back and add more color to shade the images.
- Die-cut this piece with a stitched rectangle that is one size smaller than a card base (4x5.25").
- Die-cut a stitched banner out of watercolor paper .Paint the edges of this piece lightly with purplish pink watercolor.
- Stamp the sentiment on the banner and attach it to the bottom of the painted piece. Attach this piece to a bright pink card base.
- Add some sequins that match to the banner before and after the sentiment.
- Tie twine around the top of the card.
For this card, I created a little scene on yardstick and colored it in with Copic markers. I think it demonstrates how cut these little stamps are used together to create scenes.
Here are the steps I used to create this card:
- Watercolor stripes in blue and bright red/pink on watercolor paper. First wet the entire paper so the stripes blend into each other. While the paints are still wet, flick water from the paintbrush all over it.
- Die cut this painting into a stitched rectangle; die cut another rounded stitched rectangle out of the center of this piece.
- Stamp all of the images in black ink on white cardstock creating a scene. Color all of the images with Copic markers. Color a background for your scene with gray markers for cement and blue markers for a sky.
- Attach the striped frame over this scene you created.
- Stamp the sentiment on the bottom of this scene with black ink.
- Attach the entire piece on a white card base.
- Glue some sparkling clear sequins over the background.
This card is much more simple than the other two - I just used two of the little store fronts and one tree. I cut them out of cardstock and attached them to a striped background.
Steps I took to make this card:
- Paint blue and yellow strips on white watercolor paper. Die cut into a stitched rectangle one size smaller than the card base. Attach to a white card base.
- Stamp two of the little cafes/shops and a tree on white cardstock with black ink. Color them in with Copic markers. Cut them out around the images.
- Die-cut a stitched banner out of white cardstock. Stamp the sentiment on it. Attach this banner to the bottom of the card with some hanging over the edge; trim it off.
- Attach them two buildings above the banner; attach the tree to the left of the sentiment.
- Add some colored sequins above the shops.
Now that I have shared all of my creations, you can get back to hopping. Here is the list of all of the blogs in the hop and you only have two more to go to finish the hop!
