"One Stamp, Five Ways" - Neat and Tangled better Together

Today I am the guest blogger again at Neat and Tangled using their sweet stamp and die set called Better Together. I decided to make it a "one stamp, five ways" post again so I have five cards to share with you today! Here is the cute stamp set:

My favorite thing about this stamp set was coloring these adorable images. I loved decorating their clothing with my Uniball and glitter pens. The stamp set is currently out of stock at Neat and Tangled, but is in stock at Simon Says Stamp. The dies are currently in stock at Neat and Tangled, but out of stock at Simon Says Stamp - haha! BUT, I'm sure they will both be in stock in both places soon if you are interested in shopping! Now let's get to my cards!

My first card might be my favorite. See how I decorated that little dress? The possibilities are endless! These images are done with no-line stamping/coloring as I'll describe below. 

Here are the steps I took to make it:

1. Create a card base with white watercolor paper (I kept the rough side on the inside and the smoother side on the outside).
2. Stamp the two little heart outlines on the front of the card with Versamark Ink and emboss with white embossing powder.
3. Paint over the hearts with turquoise watercolor; I first wet the entire area I wanted to paint, then painted over the wet area; then I dabbed up some of the color with a paper towel; last I added a little more color just inside the hearts.
4. Stamp and emboss the word hello on white cardstock (I used some older Zing Grapefruit embossing powder by American Crafts) and emboss. Stamp the rest of the title on the bottom of the card and emboss with the same color. Cut around the edges and attach the word hello to the top of the card.
5. Stamp the two girls on white cardstock using a light color ink (I used MFT Natural Ink); color in with Copic markers; add details to the top of the clothing with a white Uniball marker and glitter pens. 
6. Attach the girls to the top of the hearts using foam tape so they are above the background.

Of course I had to make a shaker card like I do every time! This one uses texture paste to create a polkadot background and I used twine to outline the circle. 

Here are the steps I used to make it:

1. Die-cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock; die-cut a stitched circle from the top center.
2. Lay a dotted stencil over the rectangle and tape it in place; mix some texture paste with green ink (I used two colors of Distress Ink: mowed lawn and twisted citron); mix some more ink into the leftovers and apply more in certain areas so there are lighter and darker spots; scrape off all the extra using a palette knife; carefully remove the tape and lift the stencil; let dry.
3. Attach a transparency to the backside of the circle; attach foam tape (I used two layers) to the back of the rectangle.
4. Watercolor a scrap of watercolor paper just larger than the circle with blues and greens; attach to a green cardstock base right where the circle will cover; lay sequins onto this piece (I used several different Pretty Pink Posh colors including these green ones, blues from this mix, and these 4mm gold rose ones).
5. Attach the rectangle with the foam tape over the card base so the sequins are inside the circle opening. 
6. Glue green twine around the circle to frame it leaving a little white space showing.
7. Die-cut a small stitched oval from white cardstock; Stamp the word Hugs with Versamark Ink and emboss with green embossing powder (I used Zing Cricket by American Crafts); stamp the word sending and two small hearts with blue ink; attach below the circle.
8. Stamp and color the boy image (MFT Natural Ink, white cardstock) and color with Copic markers so there are no outlines around the image. Add details with a white Uniball. Attach him to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind him.

Awe PINK - you know how much I love pink! I threw in some purple too which is a color that is really growing on me. I used to hate it and I keep being drawn to it lately - anyone else like purple? 

Here are the steps:

1. Create a pink card base; die-cut a stitched rectangle out of white cardstock and attach to the top.
2. Die-cut two more stitched rectangles out of white watercolor paper (I use Canson Mixed Media paper) - paint one with blue watercolors, paint the other with purples and die-cut it to be in a slopping shape; place the purple over the blue and attach to the card base.
3. Die-cut a banner out of watercolor paper and paint it pink; stamp with Versamark Ink and emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder; add black doodled lines around the edges; attach it to the top of the card.
4. Stamp the little girl, bear, and three hearts with black ink on white cardstock; color with Copic markers; attach to the card.

I love making watercolor striped backgrounds and this one was especially fun as I made it messy! Just throw water on the paint before it is dry and watch it make a big mess! 

Here are the steps to make it:

1. Create a white card base; die-cut a stitched rectangle from Mixed Media paper; paint stripes on it using greens and aquas; add lots of water splotches to it while it is wet so the colors blend into each other; attach to the card base.
2. Die-cut a small stitched rectangle out of watercolor paper; paint with blues and greens; attach to the bottom of the card.
3. Stamp the girl on white cardstock with black ink and color with Copic markers; attach her to the left side of the rectangle.
4. Stamp and emboss the word hugs with Versamark Ink on white cardstock using Zing Wave embossing powder; attach to the watercolored rectangle; stamp the word sending above it and emboss with white embossing powder. 
5. Tie some twine around the side of the card.

I had to throw in some colors that aren't pinks and teals for my last one. AND shockingly I used NO watercolor on this one - the background is made with patterned paper! I had to dip into my stash and should really do this more often! The oval is made with Distress Ink rubbed on with a sponge applicator. 

Here are the steps:

1. Start with a white card base and then die-cut a stitched rectangle out of yep, patterned paper! I found this older one from a Studio Calico kit and I loved how the color changed as it went down (reminded me a little of ...... watercolors!); attach this piece to the card base.
2. Die-cut another smaller stitched rectangle out of white cardstock; attach it to the top of the patterned paper; die-cut a stitched oval that fits onto this piece; rub it with Distress Ink in Stormy Sky using a Ranger Blending Tool; attach to top center of card.
3. Stamp the images on white cardstock using black ink; color in with Copic markers; attach to the oval using foam tape; color under these images with gray Copic markers so it appears they are standing on the ground.
4. Stamp the hearts and the sentiment with navy blue ink; color in the hearts with a Copic marker.
5. Add some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm rose gold sequins around the hearts.

This is a cute stamp set. Love what you did to decorate the little girl's dresses. My favorite of course is the one with the striped background. Love the blues and greens. (The purple is pretty too!) All of the cards are awesome! Can't wait till Friday! Thanks for sharing your talent!!
