Hello all - I guess you already know why you are here! Today is the SSS Among the Stars blog hop and you must have hopped here from said hop! If you just started here, you can go to the SSS Blog to see the entire list of hoppers. And this is one talented list of girls, so make sure to visit all of them today! Now let's get down to business! I first want to share with you my newest set of watercolor cards called sizzling summer:
I've made a few cards out of some of these so you can see them all colored and decorated! The fun part is watercoloring them (or you could even use Copic markers or pencils or crayons for that matter!), but they are also intended to make into card fronts, thus the greetings on them. Here are some I have made into cards (7 of the 12 and the rest will be on a blog post very soon!):
I die-cut this one with a stitched rectangle that is 4x5.25" (from MFT Blueprints 13). I watercolored all the items using my Zig Kuretake Clean Color Brush Markers giving them vibrant colors. I added some dots with a white uniball. I attached it to a light green card base and added some twine.
I painted this card front with my Zig Kuretake Clean Color Brush Markers again. I added some details with a white uniball and an orange gel pen from my SSS June Card Kit (I must get these in every color!). I added some small blue Pretty Pink Posh sequins. I die cut it into a 4x5.25" stitched rectangle (MFT Blueprints 13) and attached it to a light green card base.
I die cut this one into a stitched rectangle the full size of a card base (4.25" x 5.5") using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle set. I watercolored it and again added details with a white uniball and an orange gel pen. I attached it to an orange card base. I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins and some twine.
I watercolored this one and die-cut it into a full card size stitched rectangle (using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Set). I added shimmer to the clouds with a Wink of Stella pen. I added some natural twine to the side.
I die-cut this one into a 4x5.25" stitched rectangle (MFT Blueprints 13). I painted it with watercolors and just attached it to a card base - no sequins or twine this time! I thought the design was busy enough to stand on it's own!
I die-cut this using the largest die in my SSS Stitched Rectangle dies. I painted the sun and the letters, but left the background white. I attached it to a yellow card base. I added three PPP yellow sequins.
I had fun with this one! I die-cut it into a 4x5.25" stitched rectangle (MFT Blueprints 13). I painted it with watercolors and then added some orange around the outside edges. Make sure to add water to the base first so then when you add the paint, it spreads into the background. I added a layer of glossy accents to the fish bowl - so it is really glossy and thick!
I also wanted to work with a new stamp set from the release that I absolutely LOVE! It is called Summertime Animals and here is an image. It is also sold with a set of DIES which I used on my cards as well. I made seven cards with this set, but rather than overwhelm all of you with that many creations, I will show you two today and save the other five for a "one stamp, five ways" blog post that I will put up tomorrow. So come back and visit. And you can now subscribe to my blog right on the left top side if you want! I have a series of two posts per week using one stamp set with at least five different projects.
So here are two cards of my cards using this adorable stamp set and I'll show you the other five tomorrow!
I wanted to make a card without using the cute bear to show the stamp sets versatility. Here are the steps I used to make this card:
- I die-cut a stitched rectangle with the Simon Says Stamp rectangle set using Ranger watercolor paper. I then painted stripes of color on it with Distress Inks (colors listed in supplies below) and removed some of the color by dripping water on it, letting it sit for about 30 secs, and then wiping it off.
- I stamped and die-cut all of the images from the stamp set using SSS Intense Black Ink and Neenah White Cardstock. I colored them all in with Copic markers. I stamped the word Happy using blue ink and the stars using Hero Arts Neon Pink to Purple ink. I attached these in rows of three on the card base.
- I added additional details to the stamped images with a white uniball and a fine tip black marker. I attached the stitched rectangle to a white card base.
I had to make a shaker card with this cute set (because I always do in each of my one stamp, five ways blog posts!). Here are the steps/directions:
- I die-cut a frame with the SSS Framed die set out of Ranger watercolor paper. I die-cut an MFT Rounded Stitched Rectangle out of the top center of the inside piece. I rubbed Distress Ink (colors listed below) on this piece using a Ranger Blending Tool. I added some watercolor to the frame piece.
- I attached the frame to a blue card base. I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper to fit under the window and also attached that to the card base.
- I attached a transparency to the underside of the framed piece and then two layers of foam tape.
- I poured several colors and types of sequins on the base piece to fit under the window (listed in supplies below).
- I attached the shaker frame piece over the base to align with the scallop frame.
- I stamped and watercolored the bear and sun and attached them over the shaker card.
- I stamped Fun in the Sun using Hero Arts Neon Chartreuse to Blue ink on an MFT Rounded Stitched Rectangle and tucked that piece under the main frame onto of the transparency.
Now that you have made it through all of my many creations today, your next stop on the blog hop is:
And don't forget to leave a comment on each blog in the hop for a chance to win a prize package that will have a new product from the next release in it - woohoo! There will be a separate prize given on each stop on the blog hop! I hope you enjoyed my post today and come back tomorrow to see my "one stamp, five ways" blog post using the cute stamp set above! And subscribe to my blog to get emails each time I post another one in this series! Thanks for visiting and Happy Hopping friends! Suzy

WOW! What a collection of wonderful cards. I love your coloring and the white dots are a nice touch. I recently discovered that technique and it really makes colored designs "pop." That last shaker card is wonderful too.

Oh how I have enjoyed with this week with your blogs! This one is so summery fun! We are having 95 temps with lots of humidity here-seems like we had no spring. But these cards make that summer feel cool and fun! Your doodled cards are so cute and your painting is just the best! Great card fronts! Love the backgrounds on the other two cards. And the shaker card - blues and greens are so pretty. Once again you have showcased your cards and the stamps in an awesome way!! Thanks for sharing your talents!
