Today Simon Says Stamps released their newest card kit for June. As usual, I adore it as it has an awesome (floral my fav) stamp set by the talented Kristina Werner, has amazing papers (BoBunny), and a cool die (dream). Oh yeah - and it has two doodled cards in it by ME! The kit also comes with two KaiserColour Gel Pens to use on the doodle cards. They are printed on white cardstock this time making them perfect for Copics and doodling pens instead of watercolors.
Here is a look at the kit and the stamp set (which is also sold alone):
I made seven cards with the kit and as of tomorrow that will be updated with the number eight! I could have made so many more. One of these months, I am going to see how many I can actually make with a SSS Card Kit if I have time. I know I could have made atlas 15 with this one. The stamp set is really versatile as florals always are. I had a lot more ideas I could have used with it. And I have a lot of papers left after the 7/8 I made. I really think these card kits are worth the price they cost after working with them the past few months. I'm a believer - haha! So here we go - let's see what YOU think! (Warning - This is going to be a long post!).
This card is really colorful so I think it is my favorite. I just received my new set of SSS Stitched Rectangles. These are different than any of my other stitched rectangles as they have the stitching on the inside and the outside of each rectangle. So they can create frames as you can see in the close up photo. What I did is keep them connected (now I have cut them apart, but I did get this one card made with them together) to die-cut my favorite paper in the kit. Once they were all die-cut, I glued them on a white card base back together. So you can see the stitching in a subtle way. I wish I hadn't had to cut them all apart as I would have liked to use them again this way! Don't you just love this paper? It reminds me of watercolor which is why I love it so much.
Next, I stamped all of the flowers in the stamp set on watercolor paper with Versamark Ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. I then painted them with watercolors and cut them out. I attached them to the front of the card. I added some of the epoxy dots to the center of the flowers. I die-cut dream out of black cardstock and attached that to the bottom of the card.
I used SSS Antique Gold Embossing Powder for this card - it is sooooo pretty in real life! I embossed the sentiment and the flowers and leaves from the stamp set and then watercolored over them. I die-cut this piece with the SSS Frames die using only the inside piece from my watercolored flowers. I then replaced the frame with another one I cut from the same watercolor paper so they match. I adhered both to a yellow card base. I added some of my new Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Rose Gold Sequins to the front (not in the kit).
This card uses my usual method of stamping all the different stamps randomly on watercolor paper. I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen so I would have no lines after watercoloring. After all of the stamps were painted, I used my orange glitter gel pen to outline the large flowers and small yellow flowers. These pens work so well with watercolors and now I want them in every color! You can outline or add dots or shade or ... (so many fun or's to add)! Next, I die-cut a frame with my new SSS Stitched Rectangles from one of the patterned papers and then also die-cut my painted piece with the same size one so it fit inside the frame. I added another stitched rectangle from my MFT Blueprints 13 (which is supposed to be the same size but is just slightly larger?!?!?!) in white under this piece and attached all to a blue card base. I die-cut the word dream from white and blue cardstock and layered them on the front of the card. I added some of my new PPP sequins - this time the Sparkling Clear Mix to the front of the card around the word (not in the kit).
This card came together in about 5 mins and was my last one. I threw it together with some of my leftover painted pieces and three of the patterned papers. And then it became one of my favorite cards so I was really happy! I embossed the words from the stamp set on watercolor paper with white embossing powder. I die-cut around them with a square from the SSS Stitched Squares Die Set. I painted this piece with oranges and yellows. I had made this flower as part of the ones from my first card - embossed it with white and painted it in. I attached that above the square. I die-cut three stitched rectangles from three different patterned papers and then I cut them so they are layered/overlapping below the square. I attached all this to a white card base. All of my card bases are included with the kit. I added three sequins to finish it.
I really enjoyed using the patterned papers in this kit even though I usually prefer watercolor backgrounds on my cards. These papers are just SO pretty! I die-cut a stitched rectangle out of the tan paper that has some words on it and some color here and there. I attached that to a white card base. I then die-cut another rectangle from the yellow sunshine paper (how cool is this paper!) and attached that on top. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink right on the yellow paper and embossed with light blue embossing powder. Next, I stamped the large and small five petal flowers on different scraps of the patterned papers (primarily the piece leftover from my first card that has the rainbow of colors on it) with VErsamark Ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. I cut them all out and attached them over the yellow paper around the sun rays and the sentiment. For the larger flowers, I attached two together to form more petals and dimension. i added some of the epoxy dots in the center of these larger flowers. I attached sequins (not included with the kit) in the center of the small flowers.
This is one of my doodled card fronts printed on white cardstock. I trimmed it on the edge of the frame and then attached it to a yellow card base. I added black stripes to the frame with a fine tip black marker. I then colored all of the yellow areas with Copic markers. I colored the letters and hearts with the orange glitter gel pen included in the kit. I then added small dots all around the sun rays with that gel pen as well. I covered the sun with the epoxy dots. I added some white dots to the letters with a white Uniball marker. These card fronts make cards come together really quickly although I did spend some time added all these fun little dots!
This is the second card front I drew for the kit. I first die-cut it with a stitched rectangle from MFT Blueprints 13. Next, I colored it with Copic markers. I attached it to a blue card front. Then I went crazy with the two gel pens in the kit decorating it (such a fun process!). I added little dots with the green pen to the letters and around the leaves. I added lots of orange dots around the flowers and the edge of the card.
I hope you enjoyed all these cards today. I also hope you enjoy working with this kit as much as I did! It really is a fun one with a wonderful stamp set that makes it versatile and well worth the price! Have a great weekend friends! Thanks for visiting! Suzy

The first card is my favorite -- I saw it on Instagram last night and fell in love with it. The one with the gold embossing is beautiful, too. You did a great job of showing how versatile this set is.

Have not been at the computer for a while and how excited I was - 3 posts to catch up on! And just so you know, your posts are never too long. Love the background with several stitched frames together on the first card. Always love your random stamping on your 3rd card. How do you get them so even? Your doodled cards...well, I am a fan of the coloring craze so they are just the best. Great addition to the card kit. You help to see how you can stretch the stamp sets and come up with so many different cards. Thanks for sharing your incredible talent!
