HELLO LONG LOST FRIENDS! Ok, it's been over a week, so does that qualify as long and lost?!?!? I feel so horrible for my three blog readers that I haven't kept my commitment to blog every Tuesday and Friday for the past week. I seriously feel terrible! I was all in. Not going to miss one single one. Maybe a day late - but NO misses! Then the last two weeks happened to me and I thunk to myself - does it really matter? Will anyone but me even care or notice?!? So for my own sanity I let it slip... and I would like to say it won't happen again, but that would be a lie and lead me to additional remorse and guilt in the future!
Over the past two weeks I have drawn 26 watercolor cards - so the good news is there are a couple more sets that will soon be released at Simon Says Stamp! Woohoooooey! I'm happy about that and hope you are too! I am also part of the Mama Elephant Stampede on Friday, so my "one stamp, five ways" post will use one of their brand spankin' new sets - another woohoooooey on this end.
On Friday I am also the guest blogger on the Simon Says Stamp blog (see, I HAVE been busy!) doing a "one stamp, five ways" post using you guessed it - Roses for You! I came up with six projects. BUT in February when this stamp set was released, I also came up with a few projects using it, so now I have pretty much ruined my set with too much use (actually that doesn't happen just for the record)! But it does look a little haggard. I might even replace it just because I love it THAT MUCH and want it to look new again!
Today I am going to reshare the projects that I made in February and then give you a little sneak peek as to what will be on the SSS blog on Friday. So don't forget to go visit that for newly created goodness! And on Friday I will have my "one stamp, five ways" post up for the ME Stampede. OK, with all that busy business taken care of, let's get to the real business, shall we??? Here is the set I love so very much called Roses For You:
See, so much cuteness and versatility in one set! I know I talk up the sets I use a lot, but my words are oh so true to me. I'm not an infomercial. I really love the sets I use that much. I could go on and on, but I said i would get to the point of this post now. I might have had too much caffeine this am. Please forgive me... Anyway, if you want to buy the SET it does come with DIES!
To make this card, I stamped the heart and flowers with the stamp set multiple times, hand cut them all out (as I didn't have the dies back when I made these), and watercolored them in. When I am hand-cutting images, I always use Canson Mixed Media Paper as it is 98lb instead of 140lb like watercolor paper. It is pure white too which I love. The paper is thick enough to hold up with watercolors just fine, but isn't so thick it is hard to cut around images. I made the background of the card using texture paste colored with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and a dotted stencil. Yep, I use this technique a lot and I have a blog post HERE with instructions of how to do it if you are interested. I die cut the background with a scallop edged rectangle from MFT Blueprints 20. The sentiment is stamped on a banner from the same Blueprints set. I added some leaves to the sides to finish it off. I loved using the hearts in a different manner to create a flowers - out of the box thinking makes me happy! For this card, I started with a card base that also has texture paste dots on it - see, I use this technique a lot. It is so soft, subtle and pretty. The stencil I used for this one is by MFT called Swiss Dots. These are colored with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I also use the watercolor stripes for backgrounds a lot! I used Ranger Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick for the stripes and Ranger Watercolor paper (nice and thick and very white - perfect for backgrounds). I stamped the heart, the flower, and the I love You on Canson Mixed Media paper and cut them all out. I watercolored the heart and flowers with Distress Inks also. A little stitched rectangle action, some glueing and it was all done.
This card was a time consuming doozy. Is that a word? My spell checker seems to like it so I guess so and it rhymes with my name, so it is a favorite of mine! Doozy Suzy. Funny. Too much caffeine I tell ya! Because I didn't have the dies, this meant I had to hand cut all these flowers out! What was I thinking? I stamped them all on my Mixed Media paper and painted them with watercolors (my snobby Daniel Smith ones) and arranged them in a wreath shape. The background is another striped one painted with watercolors. I stamped love you in the center and painted that in as well. I added some of my favorite sparkly Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish it.
I started this card with a card base using Canson Watercolor Paper (140lb so nice and thick for a card base). I watercolored it with pinks and yellows. I also painted a stitched banner and stamped my sentiment on it. I stamped the beautiful floral heart and painted that and added that to the top. Same with the three flowers coming out of it. Last I added some 6mm Pretty Pink Posh yellow sequins.
For this tag, I started with a Lawn Fawn tag die set called Tag, You're It and stamp set called Birthday Tags. I used Lawn Fawn Wild Rose ink. I stamped the heart and flowers and painted them with watercolors. I added the little xoxo with a pen.
Last I made a piece of word art - this is about 8x8 so it could be framed in a square frame. I stamped all the flowers and leaves in a large circle shape (trace a plate with pencil). I then painted them with watercolors and added some to the background as well. I added white dots with a white uniball marker. I drew the quote inside the floral wreath.
Now that you have re-seen these creations, head to the Simon Says Blog on Friday am to see my other NEW six creations using the same set. I think this is the most use I have ever gotten from one stamp set! It earned it's $15 price tag - that is for sure! Here are some sneak peeks of tomorrows post: Flowers, flowers, flowers, and MORE flowers!!! Thanks for visiting today and hopefully tomorrow for my Mama Elephant post and for visiting the SSS blog tomorrow as well (which is Friday in case I have confuzzled anyone!). Suzy

Just discovered your Blog (not sure where I've been!) and love this idea! I find that I am good at "crafting" a card or project but not equally adept at conceiving one. This idea is a huge help for folks like us. I will be following regularly. Thanks for sharing your gifts!
