We are back to our regularly scheduled programming today with a "One Stamp, Five Ways" Tuesday blog post. Today I will be using the WPlus9 Doodle Buds set. This was a HOT HOT set about a year ago. I remember wanting it really bad, but it was out of stock every where. I did finally get it and it remains one of my favorite sets I have. The great thing about doing these blog posts (for me) is that I really get to play with and USE a stamp set. And this one deserves all the attention it got this week!
We all know I love doodled anything since I am a doodler, but one other thing I love about this set is the die-cut that says "blessed". It is just a stand alone word and doesn't go with any of the stamps. And it is really big which is great for cards as you will see on some of mine. And with that, let's get to the fun stuff....
This first card is VERY simple. And sometimes I prefer my simple ones that really focus on the sentiment. The first thing I did was watercolor stripes on a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper (4.25" x 5.5"). I love the texture of this paper and the pure white color. I used a Daniel Smith watercolor called Rose of Ultramarine. I collect Daniel Smith watercolors which I consider the best brand out there - they have the most colors and they are the most vibrant. I was at CHA this year and on the last day, I found a Daniel Smith booth. I was SO excited. And then things got even better when she offered me a free tube of watercolors (the 15ml size run around $15 which is why I collect them VERY slowly!). I picked this color thinking it was one I would never buy as I don't like purple. BUT, it is now one of my all time favorites as it does all kinds of cool things and has other mottled colors within it. Ok, way off topic here, but I could talk about DS watercolors all day long. I used a 1/2 flat brush to paint these stripes.
Next, I stamped the circular flower and two leaves and stems and painted with watercolors. I attached them to the card front and stamped the sentiment with SSS Black Intense Ink. I attached this to a white card base. I glued three Pretty Pink Posh clear sparkly sequins to the front. Done. See, simple!
For this card, I die-cut a stitched rectangle out of green dotted patterned paper (this was in a Studio Calico kit years ago, but any green paper would work here!). I also die-cut a circle out of the top center using the SSS circle dies that leave stitching on the outside and inside of the circle. I attached that to a white card base. I die-cut the word blessed out of white cardstock. I then stamped and die-cut the flowers and colored them in with Copic markers. I compiled them into the center of the card and added the word blessed to the bottom. Last, I attached a piece of twine to the top of the card.
This card is VERY BRIGHT! I die-cut a stitched rectangle out of white cardstock and also die-cut a banner from MFT Blueprints 2. I stamped the sentiment on the center of the banner. I die-cut a large scallop edged rectangle using MFT Blueprints 20 which is one of my favorite dies. I watercolored this using my Tombow markers which give me really bright colors. I love watercoloring with all different mediums so I don't ever get bored (but let it be known that my Daniel Smith watercolors are my favorites!). I stamped and die-cut all the flowers and painted them with watercolors as well. I attached them to the top of the white rectangle and attached that to the large purple one (see, I'm becoming a purple liker - not lover - yet). I attached the banner and added 6mm pink sequins to each side. Done!
For this card, I again watercolored stripes on Ranger watercolor paper. This time I used a 3/4" flat paint brush so they are wider. Tip: I used two colors of paint so the stripes have variagated color. I also watercolored a stitched oval from the SSS oval die-cut set. I die-cut a small banner from MFT Blueprints 20 and stamped the sentiment. I stamped and die cut the flowers and painted with watercolors. I attached those to the oval and attached that to the striped background. I attached the banner and added some Pretty Pink Posh 6mm turquoise sequins to the sides. Tip: When the salutation is really small, I like to add sequins to the sides so it appears to be more substantial. I attached all to a blue cardstock card base.
I made this card for a Pretty Pink Posh blog hop when I was their guest blogger. So forgive me if you have already seen this one! I die-cut the rectangle with the windows using a Pretty Pink Posh Storybook 1 die from a blue card base. I also die-cut a ribbon and bow from the Pretty Pink Posh Twine and Bow dies from watercolor paper and painted it blue. I die-cut the word blessed from watercolor paper and painted that three colors. I die-cut the frame die again out of Ranger watercolor paper and painted the inside pieces pink and attached them inside the open windows (like a puzzle!). I stamped the sentiment using SSS Black Intense Ink inside the top right window. I stamped and die-cut the flower and watercolored that. I attached it to the top left side of the card. I attached blessed to the bottom of the card and attached the bow across the center of the windows. I attached a blue sequin to the center of the bow and attached a bunch of marshmallow 4mm sequins to the top left and bottom right of the card.
I die-cut a MFT Swiss Dots background die from watercolor paper (see those cool dots all over it?). I watercolored that a light pink color and attached it to a yellow card base. I stamped and die-cut the three flowers and leaves and watercolored them. I attached those to the bottom left side of the card. I added a bunch of white dots with a white Uniball pen and glitter/sheen with a wink of Stella to add glitter to the flowers (Tip: add the white second as it smears under the wink of stella). I die-cut another of the Storybook dies from the last card and used one of those rectangles for the sentiment (watercolored it first). I added some 6mm yellow sequins.
The last thing I made is a little tag. I used the MFT stitched tags set for this tag (out of watercolor paper). I stamped and die-cut a flower and leaves and watercolored them. I attached those to the top half of the tag. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the tag and added some twine.
Whew - done! These posts take me more time than all the creating does! I have a few tips that help me make all these cards in one day. I have a ton of prep work done and I'll do a post on that one day. I paint a bunch of full 8.5x11 watercolored washes and then I die-cut a bunch of stitched rectangles and other shapes out of these. They are all in file boxes ready to pull for cards ahead of time. I also have a bunch of white cardstock shapes already die-cut for backgrounds and sentiments. I also have all my card bases already ready to go. So when I do one of these posts, I just stamp that weeks stamps a few times and watercolor them in when I get time. Then I die-cut them and assemble all the cards. So do each step of your cards on a different day and then completing them is really easy (and fun because the hard part is already done!).
Have a great week everyone! Thanks for visiting. And I'm nicely begging just one person to leave me a comment telling me which card you like the best. I rarely get comments on my blog posts and it would mean so much to me if I got just one so I knew someone was reading this - hahahaha. Ok, bye bye!!! xoxo Suzy
What beautiful cards here, Suzy! Hard to pick a fav, but might have to go with the second card if I had to chose. Love your work and style. Awesome job!

I cannot believe you aren't getting comments! I'm a new follower of your blog and really enjoy the idea of your using one set many ways. I really like all the cards you created here. What a labor of love for you! I'm very smitten with all the cards, but I think the pink background one draws my eye the most. But gosh, those stripes sure are striking! Excellent work and I thank you for sharing!! :)

These are gorgeous! I have this stamp set and have been trying my hand at watercoloring them, with less than fabulous results. You have given me lots of inspiration, thanks!

Suzy - I feel guilty for reading and running. Love every one of them, but the turquoise 'just a note' one is maybe a fave. But that cute tag would be so sweet to give my friend who is a voracious reader. Thank you so much for your creative inspiration...I soak it up. And how are you feeling? Well, I hope.

Just got that stamp set, so this is a perfect post for me! Love all these cards, but the first one is my favorite. TFS!!!

I like the one with the purple background and I also like the ones with the striped backgrounds. I love this series that you are doing with many cards from one stamp set. To me, they are like mini-classes. I printed one off and I am making some similar cards in my craft room with supplies that I have on hand, but I am having so such fun, I plan to order some of the specific stamps, dies and supplies that you are using.

I have this stamp set too and am always looking for new ideas for using it. I like all your cards, but the first one is my favorite. This series is great for ideas of how to use a stamp set many ways. Thanks!

I look daily to see if you have posted something new. I was extra excited when I saw this post as I have this set of stamps. Helen S said it well - I too love it when you do several cards from the same stamp set. Gives lots of ideas. No way I could pick a favorite, but I especially love the stripes and the one with the Swiss dots cut out. I love all the things you post!! Thanks for sharing!

I love the card with the Swiss dots! I must have that die! I have the stamp set but haven't used it yet. You have helped me see the versatility of this set. I am a new fan having found your blog thanks to SSS who featured the cutest shaker card ever (Sheep). I'm so thrilled to have found your blog! 😊

I really like your blog and am inspired by the One Stamp set/5 ways. Your striped backgrounds are wonderful as well. I must attempt this soon!
