Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit REVEAL and Creations

I love love working with kits - for several reasons. First, I like having a set number of products to work with as it makes the creating process so much quicker for me. Second, I like the challenge of making as many things as I can with that set of products. Third, I love thinking of lots of ways to use ONE stamp set. I especially love working with Simon Says Stamp's card kit as it combines beautiful patterned papers with just the right embellishments along with an amazing stamp set AND the dies to go with it! And this month is the best yet as they have also included two of my doodled card fronts!!!

Before getting started with sharing my creations, I want to tell you about a newly discovered product that has made me so happy while making these cards! SSS recently came out with a new black ink pad called Intense Black. IT WORKS WITH BOTH WATERCOLOR PAINTS AND COPIC MARKERS - YIPPEE!!! I have always used the Memento Black Ink when planning on using Copics with a stamped image and used the Ranger Archival black ink when I plan on watercoloring an image. But now I can use one black ink for BOTH!!! Thank you SSS for this new ink as it is saving me a lot of time when stamping!

Here are the six cards and tags I made with the March card kit and now I have all my Easter cards ready to send to loved ones!

Here are each of my cards and the details of how I made each. My first card uses one of my doodled watercolor card fronts. 

These card fronts are printed on Ranger watercolor paper, but I die-cut mine to add a stitched border to the outside edge using a stitched rectangle by Lawn Fawn. I painted it with watercolors and attached it to the front of a the green cardstock in the kit and then tied a piece of bright pink twine along the edge. Last I attached a few of the sequins in the kit to the front.

My next card is a shaker card using the ADORABLE peep stamp set:

I first die cut a scallop edged circle using a Lawn Fawn die and then I cut a stitched circle on the inside of it using the SSS circle dies. This created a frame for my shaker box. I also die cut the large rectangle using a LF stitched rectangle die and one of the patterned papers in the kit with cute little bunnies on it. To create the shaker, I also cut a piece of white cardstock and transparency just bigger than my circle and attached the transparency to the inside of the frame. I added some foam tape cut to fit inside the circle to the inside edges of the frame. I poured some of the yellow beads and sequins in the card kit on the inside of the circle and attached the white cardstock circle to the back of it. I then attached the shaker box to the front of the card. I stamped some of the cute little peeps using SSS Intense Black ink and colored them with Copic Markers. (Note: I stamped them first on scrap paper once so the outlines were more grey than black). I cut the sentiment apart so I could stamp the smaller words on the front of the card without the word Hugs. I then stamped HUGS on cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut the letters out. I attached them to the bottom of the card.

Last, I added some additional sequins to the outside of the card to finish it off. When attaching sequins, I always use Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue as they stay on really well with it. My next card is made almost entirely with the Peep Stamp set:

For this card, I started with a white Neenah cardstock base (I use the 110 lb for card bases as I like them really thick). I then stamped the three different sized peeps randomly over the background using several colored inks (see links at bottom of post). I always stamped them first on scrap paper so the images would be a little lighter (except that one bright pink small peep I accidentally kept at full pink!). I liked the way the second generation stamped images were kind of messy looking instead of being solid. Next, I die-cut a small tag using the LF Tag-You're It die-set. I attached it to the top of the card cutting off the top edge. 

I stamped the sentiment (had to cut this one apart too) on the bottom of the tag and then added a stamped small peep to the top of the tag. This card is really simple, but probably took me the longest to make because I had to get all those little peeps lined up properly and that took a couple of tries! This next card uses another one of my doodled watercolor card fronts:

Again, I die-cut the card front with a stitched rectangle die. I used a slightly smaller one so it could fit on a card base showing the outside edge of the bright pink yardstick in the kit. I then watercolored in the images and attached it to the front. It is so easy to make a card with these card fronts and super fun to watercolor them in too!

I made this card starting with the light yellow cardstock in the kit as a base. I used a strip of the plaid patterned paper in the kit and matted it on white cardstock to run across the front of the card. I then stamped several of the peeps with the SSS Intense black ink (second generation to keep the borders lighter) and colored them in with Copic markers. I die-cut each out and attached them to the front of the card. I stamped the sentiment on the top (second generation again so it is more of a grey than stark black) and added some random sequins to finish it off.   

My last card is my favorite one, but I would love to hear which one YOU all liked the best! This is another shaker card and was definitely the most time consuming of them all to make!

I started with the cream cardstock as my card base. I then die cut three rectangles using the LF stitched rectangle dies. I used three of the patterned papers in the kit for these. I cut the inside out of the smallest two. I cut a piece of transparency and white cardstock the same size as the outside edges of the smallest rectangle. I also die cut a small tag for the sentiment. Next, I stamped a bunch of the smallest peeps using colored inks and then stamped them again with their outlines using the SSS Intense black ink (sometimes in pure black and sometimes second generation so more grey). I attached the transparency to the inside of the smallest rectangle (white was attached to the top of the pink rectangle), then I added some foam tape adhesive to the inside of the rectangle. I added some more of the sequin mix and then all of my peeps to the inside of the shaker. Last I attached the white cardstock rectangle to the backside of the shaker and attached that to the front of the yellow rectangle. 

Once the shaker was complete, I attached it all to the front of the card base. I stamped a large peep and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment on a small white tag and added both of those to the front of the card. 

Last I made a small tag to use up the rest of my sequins - can you believe the kit came with enough sequin/bead mix for all of these shaker cards?!?!?!

I made this tag using the Mama Elephant Framed Tag die set which has a tag for the front with the circle opening and a tag for the back as well. I created a shaker with the two cards and filled it with the remaining sequin mix. i stamped Hoppy Easter on the front and added two small stamped peeps. Last, I added some twine to the top. 

Everything on these is from the kit except for some of the dies and the pink twine I used (as well as general staple supplies). I have linked all of the supplies I used below. Loved your cards. I also love the products in this kit. I'm not a big fan of shaker cards, however, your here is just darling. I like that you used the paper bunnies along with bits and bobs of various shaker bits. That shaker card just gets me. I think I'm going to give this a go, hoping it will turn out as nice as yours. One more thing....your doodles are the bomb. Love them. Need to have these. Marshmallow hugs to you.
