Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens Card

When I first saw the new Lawn Fawn stamp set called Gleeful Gardens, I immediately fell in love with the little snails. But when I started playing with the set, I was drawn to the two mushrooms. I'm not usually a mushroom lover, but maybe that's because I've always tried eating them instead of coloring them! I used several on my card called "love ya" today.

I created step shots for how this card came together, so i hope you will follow along with me and all supplies will be listed at the bottom of this post.

The first thing I did is use the Flirty Frames also by Lawn Fawn to create my greeting for the card. I stamped several of the frames with Lawn Fawn's new Wild Rose ink. I then stamped the sentiment "love ya" from that same stamp set with the LF Black Licorice ink. I die-cut the frames using the Flirty Frames dies. I always make extras to use on a future project.

My next step was to create the background for the card. The card base is Sour Apple card stock by My Favorite Things. I used their Blueprints 20 Dynamics for this scallop edged rectangle. I love the size of this rectangle as it fits perfectly on the front of a standard size 5.5"x4.25" card with a 1/8" border on each side. To create the dots, I taped the stencil to the edges of the rectangle on top of my Ranger craft mat using painters tape. I made sure to only cover the very outside edges so the dots would cover the entire background. I mixed some texture paste with a small amount of Worn Lipstick Distress Ink using a craft knife on my craft mat. Then I used the knife to spread the texture paste over the background making sure it was smooth. I gently removed the stencil and let the texture paste dry. I tried this by applying the texture paste before die-cutting the rectangle, but I found putting it through my die-cut machine slightly flattened the dots. So it is best to die-cut first.

Next, I stamped and colored my mushrooms. First, I stamped them in black ink and I didn't like the stark outline. Lawn Fawn stamps have a fairly thick line, so you have to really like the outline showing if you stamp it in black. I used MFT Insulation Pink OR Kraft (stamped first on scrap paper so it is lighter) to stamp them - I show both options above. You can use any natural colored ink that will blend with your colors as you color the images. I colored the mushrooms with Copic markers. The colors are shown below.

I added Ranger Enamel Accents to the spots on the mushrooms for dimension. I used some Wink of Stella marker over the coral parts to add sheen. I showed my other two markers I use on all my creations in this photo as well, but I didn't actually use them here. When coloring the mushrooms, I used the darkest color (Coral) to add dots for shading. 

To create the little scene for the mushrooms, I die cut a circle out of white embossed card stock using the MFT Stitched Circle Stax Dynamics. I cut this circle out again using plain white card stock and then recut the outside of the card stock using the largest circle so I created a frame. I colored the frame with the Coral Copics. I die-cut some Lawn Fawn Stitched Border dies from green patterned paper and then cut them out with the same size die as the smaller white circle. I layered the green grass over the white background circle and then added the coral frame. I added the mushrooms using pop dots behind some and layering them under the grass.

Last, I added the "love ya" frame to the bottom center over some Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade Twine that I tied in a bow on the right side. 

After I created this card, while I still had all my supplies out, I stamped these images using this same no line stamping technique (the frame is from the Flirty Frames set and the flower is from the Gleeful Gardens set). I used Copics to color these and I think they show how nice all of the images look without a black outline.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial today. I added this card to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog which is all about green this week. I don't usually use green at all, so this is as green as I can get! I also entered it in the Lawnscaping Challenge Dots and Stripes.
