When it comes to crafting, Valentines day is a close second to Christmas as my favorite holiday. When I started my card making craze a couple months ago, I made a few V-Day cards to send/give to loved ones. But I'll admit to ALL - I didn't send a one. I don't know if it was just because I'm lazy and hate going to the Post Office or if I'm just too sentimental to part with any of my creations! Selfish of me either way. But hey, I have a heads start on next year.
Today I'm going to share some of these Valentine's day cards so I hope your heart is still open to the day that celebrates all things hearts!
During my "I must have every cute stamp ever made" phase I've been in for the past two months, Penny Black MIMI stamps were on the top of my list. I adore these little girls and they are perfect for coloring with Copics which is my favorite past time! Today I'll be putting links to all of the products I used at the end of this post to make it easier (for me anyway!), but I'll list the products I used for each card as I go. I started here with some Neenah white card stock. I used texture paste mixed with some Ranger Worn Lipstick ink and a My Favorite Things Swiss Dots stencil for the background. I love making these type of card bases as there is such great texture (with texture paste of course!).
Next, I stamped this adorable image on some more white Neenah card stock and colored it with copic markers. After it was done, I cut it out close to the edges and used a Memento black marker to outline the edges. I added some white dots with a Uniball marker, some sheen with a wink of Stella marker, and some Glossy Accents to add sheen and dimension to the balloon and hearts.
I added miss beauty to the top of my card and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Versamark ink and Ranger white embossing powder. I stamped it on red card stock by MFT and a red stitched banner die by MFT (in the Blueprints 2 set). Last, I added some shadows to the card base around the little girl with a grey Copic marker. I also added a few details like the balloon string and some more hearts with a black marker.
This card has another Penny Black Mimi image. See what I mean about them being ADORABLE?!?! I started by die-cutting a circle out of the front of a Neenah white card base. I then cut a scalloped edge circle for a frame out of patterned paper. I stamped the word "together" (from a Studio Calico stamp set) with Versamark ink and then embossed it with Blue Zing Embossing Powder. I added a heart vellum die-cut and some clear sequins using Glossy Accents and the front was complete.
For the inside of the card, I positioned the cute little stamped image in the center of the windows and stamped it with Memento ink (which doesn't smear with Copic markers). I colored it in and added some shimmer with my favorite Wink of Stella marker and some dots with a white Uniball. These are my go to finishing touches to cards! After the image was all done, I used masking paper to cover it by restamping it and coloring it out and then placing it over the image. Then I used Ranger Tumbled Glass ink rubbed on the background for the blue color. I added "is the best place to be" with a black marker to complete my sentiment.
Isn't this stamp by Art Impression hilarious?!? I love their old lady stamps because they just make me laugh. The sentiment came with the set as well. I stamped her on Neenah white card stock and colored her in with Copic markers. I added Uniball marker for the white hearts and some of the little details. I used a Silver Uniball marker for the inside of the sunglasses and her bracelet. I stamped her again on masking paper and masked her off to color the background. I used Ranger Spun Sugar ink on the background and removed the mask. I added some grey Copic markers for the ground and stamped the sentiment. Last, I glued some clear sequins on and she was done.
So with that, I wish you all a belated Valentines Day! Hope you all have a great week and I'll be back tomorrow with some Mama Elephant cards - oooolalalala - Suzy
