It's almost October. Which is really strange in all kinds of ways. It's been about 90 degrees here for the past few weeks which might be why I'm not quite in a fall mood. It always seems like summer just rushes by to me and it is my favorite time of the year!
The Studio Calico October kits are full of fall goodness. Since we haven't experienced any fall weather yet this year, I luckily had a few weeks I hadn't completed from last year. I started by completing a spread using ONLY "the underground" project life kit. Here are some sneak images with details about what I did from that spread.
You can see that I used the digital stamps a lot this month - all of the words on photos are from those. The items on the circle dotted project life card are a printable tag and label and then some of the amazing masking tape with fall words all over it. There you go SC coming out with another innovative product for use to die over! The little leaves are from the PL kit stamp. There are 19 different little images that are perfect to decorate PL cards in this set - very versatile for all seasons. The tag card is in the kit and I cut several photos to fit inside the little tags.
My weekly title card is in the kit and can run either horizontal or vertical. The letter stickers are also in the kit that say my week. I used a standard office supply date stamp for the dates at the top of the card. The words on the photos are digital stamps again. I made the top center card by using a printable (the yellow part) and the PL stamp. It is a circle with diagonal lines inside. I colored each of the four divided areas with markers. All of the little stamps that come with the set fit inside these little areas. I used the star here.
I am a LOVER of sweaters, so that gray card had to be used as is. I used the masking tape on it. There is a set of little diamond puffy stickers in the kit and two gold star clips which you can see here. I love that there is such a variety of colors in the cards this month. I used SKY Mister Huey on the light blue card here. They were supposed to be dots, but I smeared them accidentally! There are also some printables here.
The blue stars on some of these images come from the silk screens in the kits - they are so amazing. I used Color Theory paint in Yes Peas, Something Blue and Coral Bay with them. They create perfect images as you can see in this IG sneak I posted below. All of the stars and the words are created with the two silkscreens.
My next spread was made using the leftovers from the PL kit as well as the two add-on kits called Chelsea and Baker Street. Here are some sneaks images and details:
I used the digital image of the circle stamp in the PL kit for a frame on my photo at the top. I made sure I printed it to be 3" wide since I have a 3" circle punch. The black edge to that card is a Fancy Pants envelope that comes with the Baker Street kit. Let's Stay Home is from a printable card. The "one thousand goodnight kisses" is a digital stamp. The dark navy letter stickers come with the Baker Street add-on kit. I used the alphabet stamp set in the Chelsea kit all over this spread - I love that set - it is so useful!
The text 4x6 card is in Baker Street and the fall 3x4 card is in Chelsea. I cut LIFE from a card also in Baker Street. I used some of the brads that are by Teresa Collins in Chelsea.
I love cutting envelopes apart to use on my spreads. I used the top of one on the photo on the top right. This one came out of Baker Street. The gold rub-ons are the Bees Knees and are in Chelsea. The orange envelope is in Baker Street - I used it to hold addiontal photos. We Are Here and the banner are part of the stamp set in Baker Street.
After I finished those two fall spreads from last year, I gathered my remaining supplies and here is a picture of them:
These were perfect to complete an end of summer spread from this year. I stamped a lot of the images above using my Color Theory inks.
I doodled the card on the top right and painted it with Neocolors. I adore those letter stamps in the Chelsea add-on. I used them with Flamingo Color Theory ink for the title on the bottom left card.
These wood veneer pinwheels by Ashley Goldberg were my favorite thing in all three PL kits! I was hoarding them so I could use them for just the perfect thing. I decided to let them "shine" by using them against white instead of a color and then coloring them with Neocolors (see colors below). I applied a thick layer of Glossy Accents on the white cardstock, attached one to it, and then poured white glitter between all the lines. You can't really tell, but they look amazing in person! I doodled the word love around them just to give the card more design.
The waves on this card were made with my second favorite item in all the kits. That washi tape in the Chelsea add-on is divine! I just attached a strip to white cardstock and cut around the wave design and then layered two strips over each other. I used a white Uniball to outline the waves so they stood out more. The color and wave design made this the perfect embellishment to tie my spread together.
I used the digital cut file by Paige Evans as a stamp for the cloud designs on this card. I just colored them blue with the paint bucket tool in Photoshop. I then painted inside them with a water brush and turquoise Neocolor. The card on the bottom right is a little embarrassing to include, so I almost hid it, but no one reads my blog, right? I cut my photo out (that way you can decrease your size by cutting smaller than you are - haha). I attached it to this card and then journaled around it and added some color with Neocolors and a water brush.
These are some of the items I used to add color to the last spread. I use an ultra fine sharpie to write right on photos - sometimes that is the easiest way to add more words which I am always focused on doing. I use the extra small Pitt marker by Faber Castelle to doodle - I have those in every size tip and they are just amazing! I used a medium water brush to paint with the Neocolors. I used a white Uniball to write on top of photos and to add wave lines to the washi tape. I used primarily four colors of Neocolors all over this spread including Turquoise Blue, Lime Green, Raspberry Red, and Pink. Once the cards were done, I just took my water brush, ran it over the top of the crayon and added color to everything! It's almost the most fun part of creating to me!
I used some of my new Color Theory inks on this spread: Flamingo, Inky Black, Lime Light, and Glass Slipper. I also used some of my sequins from my stash - I love sequins as they add such a fun little texture and color to things with such a low cost. I usually attach them with my Tiny Attacher just because it is so easy. I love how they added so much to that black "enjoy your day" card above. I used the white Silhoette glitter in between the pinwheels.
These were my two favorite stamp sets this month. I made the card below with the days of the week set which I think I will do for every week in my PL as it is a great way to talk about what you did each day. I used the letter set on the right for all of my titles as they are just about the size of the letter stickers that often come with the kits, but you can use them over and over in any color you want. This will definitely be my most used stamp set ever by SC.
These are just some more cards I made as I still have enough from this week to do another spread! I need to add a weekly title card too - I totally forgot! I love to cluster little embellishments on top of photos. I also want to note that the Color Theory inks are great to stamp directly on photos with - they don't smear and they leave a perfect impression on glossy paper (see "around here" on the photo above using inky black ink).
Was that enough info? Longest post ever!!! See you at reveal tomorrow, Saturday, Septbember 27th. We will be chatting at 8:00 am and 8:00 pm pst. xox suzy
These look great! One thing I don't miss about SoCal… seasons that don't feel like seasons. Good job on your gym endeavors, keep it up! :)
