I made two layouts in one week and I've had a lot of fun doing it. I think this is for a couple reasons. First, they were not assignments - I made them just for me. Second, I used some new techniques (to me) for the background of this layout and the one on the last post. When we get in a scrapbook rut, I think it is good to try something new. I started with Pinterest, pinning A LOT of layouts that I really liked. This helped inspire me to create and think about new things I wanted to try. Then I closed my computer, pulled out some of my Studio Calico kits I had just received (Camlot kits) and started playing!
I admit up front that this layout is NOT about the photos and NOT about the story. But it does tell a story. It tells a story about me - that I love creating art. My daughter's friend Lily took this image. I thought it was cool since it only showed one of her gorgeous eyes. I felt like it was a good start to getting in an artsy page groove, so I used it purposely knowing I wanted to make a page that was for ME (not necessarily about the real reason people scrapbook).
I started the layout combining my Camelot scrapbook kit and my Excaliber kit that is the mini album kit by Maggie Holmes. I really want to make a mini with it, but I also wanted to use a few of the gorgeous supplies on a layout. The blue envelope and papers behind the photo are from these two kits. The pink washi tape is from the NSD Mini Kit - I have beeen using that washi on everything. The blue PL card is also from that kit. I used stamps from several of my past kits including the little starburst flower stamp (that I use constantly) that was part of the alphabet set in the Blue Note add-on kit called Bennet. I also used some Gelatos and Neocolors for the paint and Blush Crush and Something Blue inks from the Color Theory line with stamps and with the Small Patterned Brayer Set.
My point in this post and showing this layout is I think it is OK to create just for the joy of creating sometimes. It doesn't always have to have a purpose. It made me happy. And helped me get my mojo back. I also wanted to point out some of my new favorite scrappers I have found through Pinterest. My favorite scrapbook layouts are pinned HERE. I have discovered a scrapper named Christin Gronnslett at SC or her blog HERE and another named mumkaa at SC or on her blog HERE. Check out their work - it is amazing and so artsy!!! Have a great weekend friends! suzy
Breathtaking! The kind of fade out bokeh stamping is stunning!
