I actually made time to make a layout today. I am now a Studio Calico subscriber to their scrapbook kits each month. So I really wanted to make sure I use the kits as they come and not just file them away. Today, I used the Copper Mountian Scrapbook kit to make this layout and it took exactly one hour and fifteen minutes of my time - NOT BAD I SAY! (((I should do this more often))).
For the background of my layout, I could have used the white cardstock that came with the kit, but instead I used a piece of 12x12 thick letterpress paper which is perfect for watercoloring. Watercolor paper would work as well, but this paper has a more bright white color to it, so I love it for layouts.
I laid the wood circle piece down on the paper and held it in place as I watercolored inside each of the circles. I was careful NOT to get any of the paint on the wood, but if I did, I just wiped it off quickly. I used the Watercolor Papers that I absolutely love. These papers get more of a workout than any of my other scrapbooking supplies. They are perfect colors for all my projects and much easier to use than regular watercolors (plus the colors are more rich and thick). I used a Medium Water Brush to paint which makes things even easier! Once all the color was down, I glued the wood piece over the paint.
I cut some words from one of the papers and used them throughout. The little houses are cut from the Bella Blvd. paper and I colored them in with Copic markers. I attached the red/blue ribbon to the sides of the layout overlapping them to the backside. I attached many of the heart stickers inside the wood circles and around the layout. I used several of the stamps in the stamp set including the small cursive words along the top and bottom of the layout.
Using this kit made scrapbooking SO easy. I'm so glad I decided to subscribe. I'm off to try and get another one made today! suzy
