Two more days stamping / scrapping friends and all the My Favorite Things December products go on sale on this coming Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 7:00 pm pst. That's really close. I think it might be time to turn in your Christmas list to Santa. That's TWO DAYS away close!
Today I have a card to share using my new stamp set Be Your Best Self as well as some other fun new products. I love making my creations for the release countdown each month. Now that I have some MFT inventory on hand, it's so fun mixing new products with older products with my new stamps. I'm an MFT newbie, so I'm still finding it incredibly exciting to use ALL of their products!
I don't want to ever apologize for a project because that starts off on a negative and you might automatically HATE it once I say that. But I need to just say, this card is a bit out of my comfort zone. I usually spend HOURS on one card thinking about it, moving things around, die-cutting about 5,000 things, starting and starting over and starting over again. But today, the family was all home to decorate the Christmas tree and I had exactly 1.5 hours to make it. So I ended up making a little messier card than I usually do and I'm kind of on the fence in my love for it. So let's see what you all think...
I used the negative space (I do that a lot as I can't throw away my scraps!) from a Circle Stax Die-namic over a stamped image of the ABSOLUTELY COOLEST BACKGROUND STAMP EVER - the new BG Typewriter Text Background. I grunged up the circle around the text with some black ink and some blue mist. I then attached it to the front of a white card base. I added a NEW Moroccan Tile Border Trio to the bottom edge and added sequins in the enter of each design. I used some light yellow Copic markers and some yellow mist all over the background of the card around the border die. I tied a ribbon above the border. The last thing I did is take another of the new Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics and stamped my sentiment on it using Black Licorice ink. I colored some of it in and some of the background of the circle using yellow Copics. I attached that circle in the middle of the other circle using pop dots. (((I hated covering up some of that gorgeous typewriter background!)))
For the inside of the card, I attached yellow trim to the bottom hanging over the edge so it showed from the front. I then used some more teal trim and a scalloped border from the Die-namics Blueprints 4 set. Those Blueprints set are a MUST - I love every one of them and get so much use out of them. Above that I used a cut from the Die-namics Blueprint 10 set - the brand new set. I used the Love You sentiment from my first set, Celebrate Life - I think that is my most used sentiment from all my sets as it works perfectly for the inside of most cards. I used three more die-namics cuts below the sentiment - the stitched border is from the Die-namics Blueprints 2 set, the arrow is from an older set called Die-namics LLD Lead the Way. And last there is another piece of the Moroccan borders.
Now tomorrow, the kids go back to school, so I plan on making something a little more ME. (((meaning I will be spending all day on one thing that may or may not be any better than this card -haha!))). I hope you all had a great weekend!!! suzy
Awesome card. Great colors and the detailed border is so pretty. Oh and that ribbon! So beautiful.

It's adorable - especially love the inside! And you're not the only one who starts over and over again :)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who (1) doesn't always love cards and feels compelled to apologize and (2) takes hours on one card! I can never understand those that create lovely cards in 10 minute challenges!! I do like what you came up with. I like the black and white text that grounds all of the fun. I love the various ribbons and simple things like the stapled arrow and Moroccan tile border. It all works together beautifully! (And I hope you had a great time decorating the tree!)
