I'm back with more My Favorite Things creations to show you! I hope you all had a chance to go shopping at MFT now that all of the December products are available for purchase. Today I have a layout and a card to show you using my new set "Be Your Best Self".
To make the background of this card, I used a new MFT stencil called Scrolled Background. I attached it to a piece of white cardstock with washi tape around the edges. Then I traced inside all of the lines using a fine tip black marker. I removed the stencil and retraced around each line so the lines would be double - this gets rid of the look of any mistakes nad adds a little more dimension. Also makes it easier to stay in the lines when you color! Next I colored all of the designs in with Copic markers. I doodled Be Your Best Self around the edges of the card. I attached it the front of a green cardstock card base (that is about 6"x6") and tied a bow around the front.
This is the inside of the card. I used my Be Your Best Self stamp set for the sentiment. I colored it in with copics and also colored the background around it. I used a Pierced Oval Stax die-namics' negative space to frame the sentiment. I then used the Blueprints 10 Die-namics for the dark purple matte behind it. And I added two borders using the new Moraccan Tile Border Trio Die-namics.
Since I had all the aqua green and lavendar supplies out and many other dies cut from these colors, I decided to make a layout using the same color scheme.
This is my second version of this layout (the first one got trashed as I hated it!) - so it got photographed when it was almost dark - sorry for the bad photo! Once I cut the photos into circles, I felt like my page looked like the old Creative Memories style and it just wasn't working! I tried a different approach and backed each photo on a Stitched Circle STAX Die-namic so they would look more grounded and not like they were floating on the layout.
Next, I used the new Polka Dot Cover Up Die-namic - one of my new favs! I die-cut it in two shades of purple and put the dots from the darker purple inside the lighter purple. I then redie-cut it using one of the Stitched Circle Stax die-namics. I love the way it turned out - circles inside a circle!
I stamped the circles from the Distressed Background Blocks stamp set in a light teal color on a Stitched Circle Stax Die-namic and then stamped a sentiment from my Be Your Best Self set on top of it. It gave it a subtle background and added to the circle theme of the layout. The doodled border is from the bottom of the Recording Memories stamp from my first set - Celebrate Life. I used the Moraccan Border Die-namics again on the bottom of my layout and added the month the pictures were taken using the new LLD Accent It - Months of the Year Die-namics set.
For the center of the layout, I stamped my new favorite little girl from Doodle Garden called Sprintime Wishes on the center of the largest circle from the Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics. I then stamped her again on scratch paper, cut her out and placed her over the first one so I could block her image. I stamped the dots on the background using the DC Washi Patterns stamp set. I added some circles around the larger circles using the new Blueprints 10 Die-namics set.
Whew - that was a LONG winded post! I think I used the most products on a layout I've ever used! Below will be the supply list. Hop on over to the MFT blog to link to all of the other Design Teams creations using the new December released products. And with that - happy shopping and happy weekend friends! It's almost that time of the year ... Suzy

I have such a love/hate relationship with DUH moments like this. Loving your card and the thoughts of using the stencils as doodle templates... and then thinking, why has that never occurred to me before?! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous projects with us. Looking at my supplies through the eyes of SuzyPlantamura is SO fun!
Gods blessings on your weekend,
Sarah :)
