Today is day three of the My Favorite Things teaser time showing all of the October releases of their new stamp sets, die-namics, and stencils. If you enjoy the holiday season, you are going to LOVE these releases!
For the past couple of days, I've been neck deep in Christmas decorations - the kind you use to create things. My entire room is covered with trims, buttons, sequins, papers, and every red and green scrapbook embellishment I have. I'm wondering if I can just leave it all out for the next three months and call it Christmas decorating! I have to say, this has definitely gotten me into the holiday spirit this year - early!
Today my new set called Sweet Christmas is being announced on the MFT blog. If you saw my post from yesterday, I showed the set and used it to make some project life insert cards. Today, I'm going to show you how to use the set on gift cards/tags using the new "pierced traditional tag stax" that are also debuting today. I dusted off my Big Shot to try out the MFT die-namics for the first time today and I am in LOVE!!! They cut so perfectly and I love how they have embossing on them and the edges all look embossed as well - perfection! I will be using it often and starting a collection of these high quality dies.
Over the years, I have been drawn to gingerbread houses, so when MFT asked me to use a gingerbread house as part of my holiday stamp set, I was super excited! I love all things sweet any time, but especially at Christmas time! Here are some directions on how I made each of these tags.
For this tag, I started with the largest tag die in the pierced traditional tag stax using Electric Red Cardstock. I stamped the gingerbread house on Smooth White Heavyweight Cardstock with BLACK Licorice Ink. I then colored it in with Copic markers and added some glitter glue for more sparkle/sheen. I used some washi tape over white cardstock along the bottom and added some rhinestones to decorate it.
For this tag, I started with the heavyweight white card stock and used the second largest tag from the pierced traditional tag stax. I stamped my Christmas tree image in the center and colored it with Copic markers, adding a few rhinestones and gems for decorations. I colored the background with several shades of Copic markers and outlined the tag with a gold leaf pen. I rubbed some white glitter glue onto the background and added some on the details of the tree as well. I also used gold glitter glue over the star. I love starting with white cardstock and creating my own design on the background.
This tag is my favorite colors for the holidays - bright pinks and blues. I started with Berrylicious cardstock and the third largest tag in the pierced traditional tag stax. I stamped the image on white cardstock with black licorice ink. I colored it in with Copic markers, added some more glitter glue and some pearls to the end of the tag.
Have I mentioned how much I love making, decorating, and eating gingerbread men each year? This stamped image is even more fun to decorate (but I didn't try eating it!). I love how it fit so perfectly on one of the smaller tags. I stamped "him" on white cardstock and cut out around the edges. I colored him in with Copics and added some glitter glue. The candy ribbon was perfect for finishing off this tag.
I hope you enjoyed these holiday tags all using the new pierced traditional tag stax and my new holiday set Sweet Christmas! I will be showing more projects using the Sweet Christmas stamps including scrapbook pages, cards, and a project life spread over the next few days, so keep coming back for more inspiration! Also visit the other MFT designers blogs to see their amazing projects from the releases for each day of teaser time. I can't wait to see what some of them have come up with using my set tonight!
