I love gingerbread houses. I usually buy one for the girls to make at Christmas time and take tons of pictures of them eating all of the goodies. Here is a page that I made recently for the December Creating Keepsakes. You can always click on my images if you want to see them bigger.

While Chloe and I were in Utah last week, we made a Christmas Gingerbread House banner for my Dad's hospital wall. I think I have mentioned how much I love my Slice, right? Well, Michaels has had the cartridges on sale for some time, so we bought the new Christmas one called Joy. It lets you cut different pieces at different times so you can layer with different colors. We went crazy making them one night. It started out as a contest to see who could make the best one and then we joined them all together on a banner with trees and other items. This is a picture of the wall across from his bed, so he looks at it all day. I put up his favorite scripture as well.
The banner was about 30" wide x 12" tall, so much bigger than it looks in this picture! I wish I had gotten some better pictures of it! One of the holiday centers we are doing in Chloe's class this week is to decorate a white lunch bag with a Gingerbread house and a tag to hang from it with a gingerbread man. They love to use my Slice in there, so after creating this one, I thought it would be fun to do one with all the kids. Then they can put their gifts for their parents in it (which they are also making).
So my message today is, take the time during the holiday season to do what you love. For me, one of those things is making Gingerbread houses. So maybe this year they were out of paper instead, but I still loved the process and really enjoyed using them to bring someone cheer. Merry Christmas! Suzy
Beautiful layout, and banner. I'm sure your dad just smiled that smile you surely love at the sight of it.

Oh my gosh this is beautiful and better then a gingerbread house. I didnt' know the slice could do all these cool designs. What an awesome banner for your dad. I bet all the nurses love to come in his room and see how pretty it is.
The kids just had their second snow day yesterday and we made gingerbread houses. We make ours from graham crackers and candys we like. We tried the kit kind and we failed badly at it and it looked so sad when finished, so we stick to the crackers and letting them make their own creations. I love the layout you did and already put it in my binder as an idea for ours. I will probably be posting ours on my blog for tomorrow so you can check them out. They did pretty good this year and loved making them.
I agree this is the time to remember all the little/big things that make us happy and make sure we do them. Have a very MERRY day Suzy.
